Cranborne Chase National Landscape taking part in Defra Tests and Trials project

5th February 2020

Cranborne Chase National Landscape is one of 12 National Landscapes taking part in a ‘Defra Tests and Trials’ project called Farming for the Nation.

The National Landscapes taking part will be testing new ways for Defra to incentivise environmentally friendly approaches to farming.

Cranborne Chase National Landscape will be organising a series of facilitated workshops to seek agreement on the public benefits of well-managed farmland:

  • which of these benefits farmers would consider managing within a new stewardship scheme;
  • how it fits in with the farm business; and,
  • consider how to assess outcomes.

These workshops are open to any of the farmers within the National Landscape and other stakeholders such as Local Nature Partnerships/Health and Wellbeing Groups. Agreed Land Management Plans (LMP) will be co-created with six farmers for their landholdings with technical advice and support provided.
