Take in the scenery of the picturesque Chalke Valley as we enjoy a 4½ mile walk keeping a look out for roosting birds including Red Kites, Buzzards, Rooks and Jackdaws.
Using public footpaths and tracks we will climb out of Broad Chalke up Knighton Hill, with views to towards Salisbury and its cathedral. Onward to Cranborne Droves Way and back via Church Bottom stopping to view any interesting points of nature and winter roosts along the way. There is one steady long (¾ mile) climb and 5 stiles along the route.
Please wear/bring suitable clothing, we will be stationary at certain points so please overdress rather than underdress! If you have a very lightweight carriable seat or shooting stick tucked away somewhere this could be the day to bring it along.
It will be muddy in places, so suitable footwear, walking sticks etc. No dogs. Bring a torch as we will finish in low light levels. Bring a warm drink if you have room.
