Dorset Buttons: The Rise and Fall of a Cottage Industry
Thursday 28th April 7pm
Tickets £7 per person
Anna McDowell, Dorset Button Maker and Textile Artist, will deliver her fascinating illustrated talk, which follows the history of this local cottage industry started by Abraham Case on the 1600s to its demise two hundred years later.
Afterwards, there will be time for questions, and Anna will explain what is happening now to help keep this heritage craft vibrant, including an upcoming event at the museum to celebrate 400 years of the Dorset Button industry.
In addition, Anna’s personal collection of original Dorset Buttons will be on display for closer examination and to judge scale, together with a selection of related items available to purchase on the evening.
