StarFest 2025, organised by Cranborne Chase International Dark Sky Reserve, is coming to Warminster Civic Centre on Thursday 20 March.
Take part in FREE after-school activities inspired by the skies of Cranborne Chase International Dark Sky Reserve, or head out to Kingston Deverill for an evening of stargazing. 

 

Events at Warminster Civic Centre, Thursday 20 March

Drop-in Family Activities

3:30pm – 5:00pm

Drop-in and take part in free creative activities inspired by the incredible night skies of Cranborne Chase International Dark Sky Reserve.

Take part in arts and crafts or train to be an astronaut.

Activities are suitable for children of any age. All children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no need to book.

3:30 – 4:15pm and 4:15-5:00pm

Wonder at a simulation of the night sky in our pop-up planetarium. Enter the dome and immerse yourself in projections of the night sky. See how the sky moves, learn where the planets are and watch the effects of light pollution. Discover the incredible history and mythology of our constellations.  45 minutes total

This activity is suitable for families with children aged 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Please book a place for each family member taking part. The sessions are free, but booking is essential.

To enter the planetarium, you will need to crouch to go through a dark passageway. If you have particular access requirements, please get in touch with us at info@cranbornechase.org.uk.

Please arrive five minutes before the start of your session. Families can also take part in free drop-in creative activities at Warminster Civic Centre on the same day.

Space Detectives Workshop – Booking Essential

3:30 – 4:15pm and 4:15-5:00pm

Bring space to life with an interactive Dark Sky Rangers workshop. Children can take part in practical hands-on STEM activities, led by a Professional Space Educationalist. 45 minutes total

This activity is suitable for families with children aged 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please book a place for each child taking part, you do not need to book a space for adults. The sessions are free, but booking is essential.

Please arrive five minutes before the start of your session. Families can also take part in drop-in creative activities at Warminster Civic Centre on the same day.

Stargazing at Kingston Deverill

Upper Deverills Village Hall, Kingston Deverill, Warminster, BA12 7HG

7:30 – 10:00pm

Join astronomers and members of the Cranborne Chase International Dark Sky Reserve for an evening of stargazing.

Learn more about the sky at night and our wonderful dark sky environment at this free event.
