FiPL Enquire & Apply

Thank you for your interest in Farming in Protected Landscapes. Following the latest Local Assessment Panel meeting in October 2024, most of the available funding for this financial year has been allocated. This means we have very limited funds remaining for new projects.

We are therefore keen to hear from potential new applicants, particularly those who have not received funding before, who have ideas for projects that can be completed by February 2025.

How to Apply

If you have an idea for a project that might be eligible for FiPL funding, in the first instance complete our Enquiry Form or get in touch with our FiPL team to discuss your plans and find out more information.

We always look to work with you to produce the best and most comprehensive application, providing initial site visits and discussions to see whether ideas can be grown into bigger projects, or bring on board neighbouring landowners.

Application Deadline
  • You can submit applications at any time between now and January 2025.
  • Projects funded by FiPL must be delivered by March 2025.
  • There is a rolling application deadline for submissions to go to the Local Assessment Panel, who will consider applications requesting £10,000 and more. Applications under £10,000 will be assessed in-house.
  • From the submission of application to the notification of a decision, it can take about 4-6 weeks. This timescale is dependant on the team receiving input from third parties as required by Defra (such as Natural England, the Forestry Commission and the Wessex Rivers Trust) and the schedule of Local Assessment Panel (LAP) meetings. LAP meetings take place every 4-6 weeks. Applicants need to allow at least 4 weeks before their application can be determined by the panel. All applicants should speak to a member of the team for up to date details of meeting dates.

Application Form

Before progressing with a final application, you need to complete the enquiry form, or get in touch with the FiPL team at Cranborne Chase National Landscape, who will help you with the application process and provide you with an application form.

To see an example of what is required for an application, see the sample application form  below

To see an example of how project costs should be presented in an application, download the Application TemplateAnnex A spreadsheet below for reference.

All projects must be completed AND grant money claimed by 31 March 2025.

Application Assessment

Applications over £10,000 will be judged by a Local Assessment Panel (LAP). The LAP is made up of 8-12 people and meets every 6-8 weeks. It includes representatives from Cranborne Chase National Landscape, Natural England, those from the farming and land management community, and local specialists.

Applications for less than £10,000 may be decided upon by a senior member of the National Landscape team.
