Craig Daters

Craig joins the National Landscape team with a background in managing land for nature conservation outcomes. Craig has worked for multiple conservation charities and for the New Forest and South Downs National Park Authorities across southern England since 2006.

Initially starting his career undertaking residential voluntary roles with the RSPB following graduation with a BSc in Environmental Protection at Bournemouth University, Craig has been involved with, developed and managed multiple land management, people engagement and access projects focussing on species protection, habitat creation, youth engagement and stakeholder collaboration.

Within the South Downs National Park Craig led a team of Rangers, developing and managing land management and people engagement projects across peri-urban, chalk downland and the Sussex weald, collaborating with Local Authorities, Town Councils, farmers, charities and community groups.
His most recent two years were spent managing urban tree planting projects for Somerset Council where he led on the development and delivery of tree planting schemes and the sourcing of funding.

Craig lives in Dorset with his young family and likes to spend his spare time exploring and learning about hill forts and ancient trackways.

Craig is excited to work collaboratively to develop and build landscape scale opportunities that enhance and increase resilience of natural ecosystems within Cranborne Chase National Landscape that are sympathetic and add value to historic and current land use needs.
