What’s on
Events take place through the day, delivered by our partners, local community members, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Interactive nature and creature activities
- Talks through the day on local archaeology, reviving ancient walking routes, conservation and more.
- Live in-character performances bringinga to life figures from the past to delight and entertain
- Guided walks and experiences such as butterfly walks, sketchbook making, dusk bird spotting, evening bat walk and more.
- Music and exhibitions on wood crafts, Roman Britain, local wildlife organisations, artwork, practical conservation and more.
Who are the Chase & Chalke Landscape Partnership Scheme?
We are a group of organisations working to deliver 20 different projects in the local area that were designed to enhance Cranborne Chase National Landscape in a way that benefits communities, heritage, and the landscape.

A historic & peaceful location – Larmer Tree
Enjoy the day at this lovely location.
General Pitt Rivers first created the Larmer Tree Pleasure Grounds in 1880, shortly after inheriting the Rushmore Estate on Cranborne Chase. Designed as a sanctuary to enlighten, educate and inspire his estate workers and guests, he took great pride in creating a unique space to share with them.
Food & Drink
- Dorset Lamb – Enjoy locally sourced food such as bacon rolls, lamb burgers and koftas, veggie haloumi options, salads and salsas.
- Dorset Pizza Kitchen – Bespoke pizzas from a family run on-site mobile wood fired pizza oven.
- Larmer Tree Cafe – Purchase hot and cold drinks as well as light snacks.
- Picnic – bring your own picnic and drinks, and enjoy the day, however please refrain from bringing glass onsite.
