Important: extreme weather warning for wildfires

15th July 2026

There is currently an extreme weather warning for wildfires, in particular with this very strong wind experienced over the last few days.

Hedgerows, trees and fields are extremely dry and present a high wildfire risk, which is dangerous both for people, wildlife, habitats, livestock and crops.

It is recommended not to have bonfires at home, and if you must have a home barbecue, make sure you’ve got some water readily available.

Please ensure cigarettes are properly extinguished and disposed of responsibly (bucket of sand) and if you are going out for the day, please take a picnic, not a barbecue.

Should you see a fire in the countryside, get to a safe place and call the Fire and Rescue Service. Please provide as much detail as possible about the location and if necessary, use ‘What3Words’ to help them arrive.

Thank you for helping to keep Cranborne Chase National Landscape safe from wildfires and protecting communities, farms and nature; let’s keep ‘working together to keep this living landscape special’.

With thanks,

Cranborne Chase National Landscape team
